Primary sources were created at the time an event occurred. These can include newspaper articles, letters, diaries, receipts, and many other types of documents and artifacts.

The library has a rich collection of primary sources in Special Collections. If you plan to visit in person, we recommend setting up an appointment by calling 662-325-7679 or emailing sp_coll@library.msstate.edu. You can also browse our digital collections.

Primary sources can also be found in some of the library's databases, such as the African American Newspapers, Chronicling America, and Archives Unbound.

For more information, visit the Primary Sources section in the History Research Guide.
