The statue outside the main entrance of Mitchell Memorial Library is called "The Scholar" and was created by Oxford-based artist Rod Moorhead. Moorhead also created the angel statue that sits in front of the Chapel of Memories. Library faculty and staff have lovingly nicknamed the statue "Mitch" and feature him in many social media posts, and alumni and students often take their photograph with him.
